The Omnibus is the news, sports, and information source of Southwest Baptist University. As SBU's official student newspaper, the Omnibus is a weekly publication that features both newsprint and online editions. The Omnibus newsprint edition is a tabloid style newspaper that produces approximately 24-25 issues per year. It is a 12-page weekly publication that features:
* Campus news and sports
* Letters to the editor
* Staff editorials
* Weekly humor and devotion columns
* Feature stories about interesting people and places
* Reviews of movies, books, bands, CD's, businesses,
and other venues
* A campus calendar
* Classified ads section
* Advertisements for local restaurants, stores, specific
goods and services, and more.
The Omnibus Online edition (www.omnibusonline.com) is the internet version of the Omnibus newsprint edition. Online features everything that the Omnibus newsprint edition has and then some. In addition to covering SBU news, the Omnibus Online includes:
* World and national news
* Sports and entertainment news
* Local weather and movie listings
* Multimedia clips and picture galleries
* And more
The Omnibus Online readership includes not only students, faculty and staff, but also alumni, parents, and local citizens. Currently, the online edition receives on average over 5,000 page hits per month and has over 1,300 registered users who receive our weekly e-newsletter.
In regard to readership, the Omnibus print edition is personally delivered to every mailbox at SBU's 12 residential facilities which house a capacity of 1,129 students. The paper also has multiple distribution centers at 12 SBU on-campus classroom and office facilities with a total circulation of approximately 1,400 papers. The Omnibus Online edition is distributed electronically via e-mail to SBU students, faculty, and staff and has a worldwide readership via the Internet.
Employing an editorial staff of about 15 students and a support staff of about 20, the Omnibus has sent many of its student graduates to high-ranking, professional positions worldwide. As cited on the front page of each publication, the Omnibus is proudly referred to as the official information source of Southwest Baptist University.
A winner of multiple Missouri College Media Association awards and honors, including best overall newspaper, the Omnibus has a proud past and vision for the future where it continues to expand and progress in the modern era of electronic media.

The Omnibus
