"I love SBU," McGinniss said at the SGA pre-election debate hosted by the Omnibus. "Why does it have to be like everyone else's school? There are a lot of things we can do to make it the best four years of our lives."
Among her ideas, McGinniss hopes to influence the chapel services at SBU by creating a student committee that would consider fresh ideas about how chapel services can be conducted in a more "student-friendly" way.
Sophomore Ryan Brown, who defeated sophomore Tim Scego for the opportunity to serve as SGA vice president, plans to assist McGinniss as well as chair the Campus Activities Committee next fall.
"I plan on keeping the students entertained with amazing events," Brown said. "It is my goal to have more events overall, to have more events on the weekends and to attract as many people as I can to come to SGA-sponsored events."

"I'm proposing many new ideas," Brown said at the debate. "But I like a lot of the old ideas, as well."
Junior Andrew Gibler defeated sophomore Kimber Carriker in the race for SGA secretary.
"I want to put a smile on your face and make this school a better place," Gibler said at the debate.
Gibler, a math education major with a minor in psychology, claims to have great organizational skills.
"I am looking forward to serving the student body as the new secretary of SGA," he said. "I feel like a superhero and will knock down any task in my path to the best of my ability...I want to make a difference in getting all different types of people to campus events by hosting and advertising everything SGA does."
Senior George Smith, a double major in accounting and economics / finance, will return to the SGA cabinet as treasurer.
"I've enjoyed the job so much that I've decided to run again," Smith said at the debate. "I'm very passionate about this job, and I feel it is only appropriate to keep SGA accountable about where the money goes." Smith is excited about the fall 2004 semester, which he says will be full of new opportunities and coworkers.
"We'll have a lot of new people that will bring some fresh ideas to the cabinet," he said. "I look forward to working with them."
Other cabinet members are also anticipating an exciting year.
"I believe God put this opportunity into my way for a reason," McGinniss said, "and I don't want it to be about, 'Oh, Marilyn was a great president,' but about glorifying God."
She is joined by other cabinet members, as well.
"I want to help keep the campus an awesome experience," Gibler said, "by serving the students and God in everything I do."
