Freshman pitcher Cara Gaskins (5-11) pitched six innings, allowing five hits and recorded three strikeouts in the first game. The Bearcat offense was sluggish, with two freshmen, centerfielder Devon Dunkin and second baseman Jessica Wapotish, SBU's two lone hits.
In the second game, pitcher Cassie Haines (0-1) was able to go the distance.
On April 9 the team had a doubleheader with Emporia State. SBU dropped the first game in a hard-fought 4-2 loss.
In the loss, Gaskins pitched her 17th game of the season, going all seven innings and throwing five strikeouts.
Catcher Jackie Vaughan was the team's offensive leader with two hits and two RBI's. The bearcats lost the second game 10-2. Kyleigh Savas (2-9) got the start, pitched 1 full inning.
The Bearcats faced Central Missouri State in a doubleheader April 13. The women were defeated in both games, 6-3 and 3-0.
SBU will face Culver-Stockton College at home in a 2:30p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 17.
