For the second year in a row, Southwest Baptist University sophomore Amber Wheeler has been named to an All-American team. The Women's Division II Bulletin has released their All-American basketball teams and Wheeler was named to the fourth team.

This is Wheeler's third All-American honor as she was named to the NCAA Division II Freshman All-American team last year and was a Super 16 preseason All-American by the Women's Division II Bulletin. This year, she also picked up numerous MIAA awards. Being named the 2003-04 MIAA Most ValuablePlayer, she broke the MIAA Women's Postseason Basketball Tournament record for points in a game against Emporia State with 37. Wheeler's 37 points are also a single-game record for points in a game by a Lady Bearcats' player.

Wheeler was also named to the MIAA First Team, the Sonic / MIAA All-Tournament team, and was MIAA Player of the Week once. While playing in the St. Mary's Classic in San Antonio over Christmas Break, she was named to the All-Classic team for her performances.

On the academic side, Wheeler was named the 2003-04 MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and was also on the Academic All-MIAA team as a freshman.

For the 2003-04 season, Wheeler finished second in the MIAA scoring at 17 points per game, just 0.4 ppg behind Danielle McKinley of Missouri Western. Wheeler was first in three-point field goals made (2.64 pg), fourth in free throw percentage (.823), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.368), seventh in 2. field goal percentage (.391), and eighth in steals (1.79 pg).
