The Southwest Baptist University men's golf team had two players with top 10 finishes in the MIAA Postseason Golf Tournament held April 19-20. The team finished sixth overall out of the seven MIAA competitors.

Junior Nick Layman finished fifth out of 38 golfers. He shot a 77, 74 and 70 for a total of 221. Senior Dusty Smith ended with a 10th place finish and score of 225.

Sophomore Mike Martinez, freshman Tyler Gripka and senior Tim Sperr also competed in the tournament.

Martinez finished 30th with a score of 240. Gripka's score of 256 gave him 36th place and Sperr finished 37th with a 260.

"We've been a little inconsistent this year, but we finished on a good note," Coach Kevin Cribbs said. "We're hoping we can build on that."

The golf team's spring season is now complete, unless they qualify to compete in the regional tournament held in Kentucky during next month.
