Cosmopolitan magazine, the self-proclaimed "sex bible" will soon begin publishing monthly articles on spirituality. Is this decision an attempt to redeem one of the smuttiest magazines on the market? Yes. Will it work? Not likely.

These articles will be on spirituality, not religion. Most of what will be published will not concern Christian doctrines, but will focus on Eastern, mystical religions. Such religions are man-made and mainly composed of lies.

"I am a god, you are a god, we are all gods" is a great untruth, propagated by false religions, which will damage many readers. This idea is splashed around by the secular media and publishing such sentiments in a wide-spread magazine will only reinforce those thoughts.

Cosmo's new column will, in effect, be very anti-Christian because it goes against much of what Christians believe. New Age religions may be among the fastest growing alternative belief systems in the United States, but their popularity does not make them right.

I remember reading somewhere "History is filled with men who would be gods; but only one God who would be man." Many people have tried to be God, but they have all crashed and burned. Why does our society think they can now achieve such an idea?

It really bothers me that some people believe they have the right to act as gods and to demand such a level of respect from others. It is one thing to ask for respect from another person and yet another to claim divinity.

When will people learn they cannot be God? Possibly never. As Christians, we should try to find ways to combat this kind of ignorance and show people the way.

Man learned a long time ago that even if he wanted to fly he could not jump off the bluffs, flap his arms and succeed. People with the same attitude as those writing for Cosmo are currently giving classes on how to be a divine being, only to teach the same lesson Lucifer learned.

And it is also funny that a lot of these same columns will never once mention Christian beliefs, except possibly in mockery. Neither will many ever endorse anywhere close to a monotheistic approach. (Continued…)

Editorial: The Virtues of thetherball

This editorial has to be the dumbest thing I have ever read. I do not appreiciate how the author thinks that SBU should scale down the athletic program. (Continued…)
