![]() Senior Cassi Haines recently completed her four-year career as a SBU softball player. |
Last year, Haines was named a First-Team All-MIAA selection and was on the All-MIAA Academic team. She is the fourth softball player in SBU history to be selected to an All-MIAA team two years in a row.
"I was really surprised when I found out that I had made the team," Haines said. "It is a great honor since I'm only the fourth person to make the team two years in a row."
Haines played softball for the Bearcats all four years of college, and she has a lot of great memories from all the time she dedicated to softball.
"Most of my best memories are of my teammates and the friendships that I built with them on and off the field," Haines said. "We went through a lot of hard times together."
Haines was vital to her team, not only because of her great statistics, but also because she was a utility player.
"I played outfield and pitched and I am a left-handed hitter," Haines said.
After graduating in May with a degree in Sports Management, Haines is still unsure of her plans. She has an internship for this summer and is interested in becoming a dental hygenist.
"The times that I spent at SBU have really prepared me for something great later in my life," Haines said. "It's been very bittersweet, but I am better because of it."
