Volleyball tournament raises $110

A fundraising three-on-three Sand Co-ed Volleyball Tournament was held May 8 at the sand volleyball court behind Southwest Baptist University's Landen Hall.

The Tournament was held as a fundraiser to help purchase lights for the sand volleyball court behind Landen.  A total of $110 was raised from the entry fees collected. Cost per team was $15.00.

According to Student Government Association Treasurer George Smith, a total of $510 has been raised for the lights project which will cost around $1,200.

Prizes were given to all participating teams with championship certificates being awarded to the first and second place teams.

All tournament matches featured a best two-out-of-three games double-elimination format.  

The tournament, under direction of sophomore SGA member Tim Scego, was open to all SBU students, faculty and staff.

The team winning first place included Sharon Copeland, Kevin Mitchell and Natalie Ellison. Second place went to John Adams, Jeremy Matheny and Cassy Glinski. The third place team consisted of Kyle Smith, Kevin McMahon and Libby Jackson.
