After a good season of competition for the Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team, Head Coach Ray Still is already excited about next season.

"We have three strong recruits coming in," Still said. "They fit the university and the team great."

Two of the three recruits hail from Bolivar. Lauren Hodson and Stephanie Janzekovich will join the Lady Bearcats team in the fall. They are no strangers to SBU, as they have participated in tennis camps and taken duel credit classes.

"They play doubles together and finished fourth in state," Still said. "They are both outstanding students with great character and talent."

Both Hodson and Janzekovich are in the top 10 percent of their class in academics.

The third recruit, Chelsey Janzen, reigns from Enid, Okla., where she is in the top five percent of her graduating class.

"She was state champ in Oklahoma her sophomore year in the number two doubles position," Still said. "She has a solid background and incredible academics."

"All three recruits are also very active in their churches," Still said. "Everything looks good for next year. We have high expectations."

Also in women's tennis news, Southwest Baptist University senior Lindsay Hickel was recently honored with the MIAA Sportsmanship Award.

"She has helped the program improve over the last four years," Still said. "I can't be more happier for her to receive this award."
