After a breathtaking week of Homecoming, SBU's Student Government Association is getting back into the groove by offering two stellar events this weekend.

At 7 p.m. Friday Oct. 8, Campus Activities Chair Ryan Brown will be hosting Finding Nemo Night. Students are encouraged to bring beanbags and comfy stuff with them when they come to the movie. Snacks will be provided.

Students who find hidden octopi around campus can turn their octopi in at the SGA office to receive a SPECIAL prize.

Another SGA activity is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. Student Affairs Chair Tim Scego will be hosting a Night Three-on-Three Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament to celebrate the addition of the new lights at the Sand Volleyball Court near Landen Hall. Students wanting to participate can sign up by e-mailing Scego at 305752@sbuniv.edu or can give a list of their team members to Landen Hall Resident Director Chris Keller in the Student Life Office. The cost is $3 per team for those who sign up by Friday, Oct. 8. SBU faculty and staff members are also encouraged to participate. Participating teams will be limited to only one faculty / staff member per team. Water and snacks with a "night theme" like Mars and Milky Way candy bars and Starburst candy will be provided. All volleyball matches will be single elimination with rally scoring to maintain the efficiency of the matches. Brackets will be determined by the order of a team's entry.

A new addition to the weekly edition of What's Hoppin' is the "Suggestion of the Week," a feature designed to show what SGA is doing with the suggestions forwarded to them from the SGA suggestion boxes on campus. This week's suggestion concerns diet products in vending machines on the SBU campus. Some of the machines did not have diet products in them and, after a call to Betty Warren, administrative assistant for SBU's Office of Administration, the problem was fixed. Now, there should be at least one diet product in each soda machine on campus. Thanks again for your continued suggestions...we look forward to reading more of them in the future!
