Voters in Arkansas and West Virginia recently received literature from the Republican National Convention warning the Bible will be banned and men will marry other men if the "liberals" win the election in November.

The RNC is telling voters in Arkansas and West Virginia that the Bible will be banned if ´liberals´ are in office.

According to the New York Times, this was part of a GOP effort to mobilize religious voters.

While the RNC has admitted to being responsible for the mailings, they have not hinted at an apology.

Sadly, this seems to be another attempt to insist all Christians must vote for George W. Bush in order to uphold their faith. In reality, the Christian vote is not united, nor should it be.

It is unfortunate that any group would try to manipulate others by appealing to faith, especially when the assertions used are untrue.

Christians should be encouraging each other to a greater good. In terms of the presidential election, we should be urging each other to study the policies of all candidates. Neither God nor country are honored when we vote blindly.

Neither liberals nor conservatives hold a monopoly on religious issues. We all have something to learn from each other. We can start by treating each other with more compassion and understanding.

I pray Christians may come to represent a different form of politics -- one in which intimidation and malice have no place.

Jennifer, I affirm your article 100%. :) But I gotta say that even though conservatives and liberals neither one have the market cornered on political candidates or issues, I am a much bigger fan of liberals because (HEY!) -- Let's just face it! Liberals are at least nice! :) Most extreme conservatives I know have a bit of a mean streak in them. (Continued…)

Hey Jenn. beside the fact that you used neither in two sentences back to back, it wasn't a bad article. I am proud of you for taking the middle ground, and not telling everyone to vote democrat. (Continued…)
