Volleyball finishes with a 0-16 record

With one week left in their season, Southwest Baptist University's volleyball Bearcats will look to close out what has been a tough and challenging year.

On Oct. 28, the SBU fell to Truman State, the third-ranked team in the nation, 3-0. Seniors Jenny Madrid and Leah Elliot each recorded seven kills. Sophomore Misti Baser had 12 digs and freshman Chelsea Kenney had 20 assists.

In their Oct. 29 match against Northwest Missouri State, the 'Cats were defeated in three games, 30-28, 30-23 and 30-21. Madrid led the way with 13 kills, followed by freshman Jennifer Basset with seven. Baser dug 14 balls and Kenney had 27 assists.

When the SBU took on Missouri Western Oct. 30, they once again fell 3-0. Madrid led the team with nine kills with Kenney tallying 27 assists and 10 digs.

On Nov. 2, the Lady 'Cats hosted John Brown University in their last home match of the season. After losing the first two games 30-25 and 30-22, the 'Cats came back to win game three 30-29, but then lost game four 30-22, losing the match 3-1. Madrid had 26 kills and Kenney recorded 48 assists. Sophomore Candace Zane recorded 12 digs.

The 'Cats, now 1-28 on the season and 0-16 in the MIAA, were scheduled to take on Drury University in Springfield on Nov. 4. SBU will finish it season with a match against Rockhurst University in Kansas City on Saturday, Nov. 6.
