This local community theater is housed in an old church building on Walnut Street, one block north of Maupin Street in Bolivar. The theatre has been around for about five years and has done such productions as "Little Women," "Father of the Bride," "Charlotte's Web" and "Jesus Trip."
The Theatre recently finished performing a play entitled "Daddy's Dyin', Who's Got the Will," directed by Southwest Baptist University's Betsy House-Johnson. As the title suggests, the play focuses on the father of a family who is dying and how his family comes together for his final days. There was laughter, tears and fireworks.
Crystal Bridger will be directing the next play at the theater. Entitled "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," this play tells the story of a couple who attempts to put on the best Christmas pageant ever. Unfortunately, they are forced to cast the dreaded Herdman kids.
The play will run Dec. 10-14. Tickets are only $6 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased in advance by calling the Walnut Street Theater box office at 417-326-8415 or 417-326-4052.
