The Bolivar Ministerial Alliance and Salvation Army are sponsoring their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to help feed families in need.
The goal of the drive is to provide a complete Thanksgiving Day dinner for over 400 families in the Polk County area.
Southwest Baptist University students, faculty and staff are encouraged to make cash and / or food donations to the drive. A $10 donation will provide a complete dinner for a family. Donations of non-perishable food and potatoes will also be accepted.
Those who wish to purchase a complete dinner should bring: a box of stuffing mix, a 10-pound bag of potatoes, two cans of corn, two cans of green beans and a donation of $5 to be put toward the purchase of a turkey.
Extra food such as cranberry relish, desserts and other non-perishable items will also be accepted.
"Last year, SBU raised enough to feed 170 families," Assistant Director of Student Activities Emily Barlow said. "We are trying to do better than that this year."
Food and cash donations can be dropped off Monday, Nov. 17 through Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Office of Student Life or the Sells Administrative Center. Checks should be made payable to the Bolivar Ministerial Alliance
"It is an easy way to benefit the community," Barlow said. "You just buy a few things and benefit and help out a family in need."
For more information, contact John Stillwagon, administrative computing technician, at 328-1585 or Barlow at 328-1565 or 328-1856 or e-mail ebarlow@sbuniv.edu.
