Women on the Southwest Baptist University campus are gearing up for the fourth annual women's conference Feb. 9-10. The conference will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 in Pike Auditorium.
"[This] year it is all about simplicity and truth," said senior Amy Butts. "The environment of the conference is very relaxed, almost resembling a coffee shop. Our goal was to create a weekend where little could become a distraction and truth was given its rightful position."
The theme for the weekend is based around Colossians 1:13, a verse selected by Karen Rigler, the main speaker for the conference.
"Our speaker is incredible," said Butts. "She is an extremely well-educated woman, obtaining knowledge on historical contest, taking the word deep into its settings. We are hoping for great fellowship and discussion about this journey called life."
Women in attendance will be led in worship by freshman Jenny Gorsett and seniors Ivry Karamitros, Casey Waterman and Shelley Baugh.
Small group sessions will be held in addition to the larger sessions. These will take place Friday evening as well as Saturday morning and evening. Specialized classes will be offered Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
The conference is open to women 16 years and older, and the cost is $5.
Questions may be directed by e-mail to Butts at ab000029@sbuniv.edu or Karen Marker at km000019@sbuniv.edu.
