A new staff member has been welcomed to the staff of Southwest Baptist University's Information and Technology Services Department. Cathy Floyd has been hired as administrative assistant to Dr. Robert McGlasson, vice president for Information and Technology Services.
Originally from this area of Missouri, Floyd attended Fair Play High School and has lived in Bolivar most of her life.
After attending Phillips Junior College in Springfield, Floyd went to work for AMS Rackley. Floyd has a background in computer and Internet technology support.
When AMS Rackley relocated to Cleveland, Ohio three years ago, Floyd moved with the company, performing customer service training as well as tech support for insurance software. Recently, Floyd made the decision to move back to Bolivar to be closer to her family.
Floyd learned about the administrative assistant job opportunity from her sister Melinda Wedge, an SBU housekeeping employee.
"It is nice to be back in an area where I know the streets," said Floyd.
Floyd replaces Jennifer DeVenney who moved on to a job in Springfield.
The day-to-day responsibilities of Floyd's job include, but are not limited to: filling out purchase orders, budgeting and keeping expense records and filling in and doing extra work for any other faculty or staff in the Information Technology Department.
Floyd is not married and has no children, but she has a kitten named Bella, who she calls her baby. Floyd enjoys reading, watching movies and being outdoors.
"I feel very blessed to be here," said Floyd.
