Spring semester brings 61 more students to campus

Southwest Baptist University enrollment for the spring 2007 semester is up 61 students from the spring 2006 semester.
A total of 1,391 undergraduate students are enrolled at SBU's Bolivar campus. This is a 4.6 percent increase from last spring's 1,330 students.
As reported in last week's issue of the Omnibus, total new student enrollment at the Bolivar campus is down four from last spring. Sixteen first-time freshmen enrolled this semester, a four-student increase. Thirty- seven transfer students were admitted to SBU, down from 42 in spring 2006. The total number of new students for the spring 2007 semester is 90, whereas last semester, total new students were 94.
Fifty-three percent of SBU's 1,391 students are female, and 649 students, 47 percent, are male, according to the Undergraduate Student Profile.
SBU's top majors include business and elementary education.
Seventy percent of SBU's population are from Polk County, and this semester, SBU is home to 20 international students.
