The Lady 'Cat softball team lost a twinbill to Lincoln University, 2-4 and 4-8.
Senior Amanda Orchard went the distance in the first game and was charged with the loss. Orchard gave up four runs (two earned), walked four, and recorded no strikeouts in six innings. Senior Mary Nguyen was 2 for 4. Two Southwest Baptist University errors in the first inning opened the door for three LU runs, a lead they did not relinquish.
SBU took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth in game two, but watched Lincoln score seven times in the bottom half of the inning, paving the way for an 8-4 win.
Freshman Jana Provance was charged with the loss. She went four innings, gave up seven runs (all earned) and walked seven. Senior Tara Phillips had a couple of hits in four at bats.
"In game one, we started too slow with our bats," said Head Coach Christy Capner. "And we made some errors that had an effect on the score. We got behind and didn't hit. In the second game, we didn't keep the pressure on them when we had the lead."
The Lady 'Cats travel to Springfield this weekend for the Evangel Show-Me Tournament. On March 2, they will play Iowa Wesleyan at 12:45 p.m., Arkansas Tech at 4:30 p.m. and Trinity Christian 6:15 p.m.
