The Southwest Baptist University Chorale will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in Pike Auditorium.
"The evening's program is deliberately outside of the box in terms of repertoire," said Dr. James Tarrant, associate professor of music. "We will be bringing to the stage sounds and expressions rarely heard from a choral ensemble. The repertoire runs the gamut of chant-inspired music to modern, expressionistic genres to audience favorites."
The Chorale will present works by such composers as Maurice Durufl, William Walton, Eric Whitacre and Don Carlo Gesualdo.
The Chorale is a 42-voice, selectively auditioned mixed choir whose repertoire spans over 500 years of music history.
The choir has performed extensively throughout the country and the world.
Last year, the ensemble performed throughout southern Germany, appearing in such notable venues as the Ulm Cathedral, St. Anna in Augsburg, and the Dachau concentration camp.
The Chorale also performed at last year's Missouri Music Educators state conference.
The concert is free and open to the public.
A reception will be held for the audience backstage after the performance.
