Middleton needs height to match depth

The seasoned Jim Middleton will be entering his 14th season as Southwest Baptist's women's head basketball coach next November. However, it will be this offseason that will define his career at Southwest Baptist University. Middleton is 203-135 in his career at SBU.

Sanderson readies for nationals

Today, March 9, Southwest Baptist senior T. Jay Sanderson will attempt to take another step toward being the first national champion in SBU's track and field history. Sanderson will be competing in the one-mile run at the NCAA Division II national championship meet for the second time in his illustrious career.

Bearcats' tennis teams set for home openers

Battling injuries and adverse weather conditions, the Southwest Baptist men's and women's tennis teams played decently in Oklahoma last week. The Bearcat men picked up two wins in a four-team meet March 2-3 while the Lady Bearcats picked up a win and a loss.

Rockhurst stifles SBU bats

Poor luck with hitting led to two losses for the Southwest Baptist baseball team Tuesday, March 6 against Rockhurst University in Kansas City. The Bearcats had no problem making contact, only striking out seven times in the two games. However, everything they hit seemed to be right at somebody.

Washburn women end SBU's season

The Southwest Baptist women's basketball team made an appearance in Kansas City in the MIAA Tournament for the first time in quite a while. The Bearcats took on the sixth-ranked Washburn Lady Blues in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. The Lady 'Cats came out strong in the first half, grabbing an early lead.

Youth, experience to drive golf 'Cats

It's tee time again! The Southwest Baptist golf team will feature a blend of youth and experience when they open their 2007 spring season this weekend. Four juniors, two sophomores and four freshmen make up this year's team which is led by junior Clay Brandenburgh, one of two Bearcat golfers to compete in NCAA Division II Super Regionals in 2006.

New volleyball coach hired

Brent Good, director of athletics at Southwest Baptist University, has announced the hiring of head volleyball coach Kelly Richardson. Richardson has been head volleyball coach at Republic High School, where she led Republic to both District 10 and Sectional Championships for the first time in school history.
