In doubles, Kacamakis and Prerad (5-8), El Alabi and Mollar (4-8) and Mohadeb and AuBuchon (0-8) all suffered losses.
With the loss, SBU saw its three-meet winning streak snapped. Cameron, ranked 18th in the latest NCAA Division II Poll, improved its season record to 6-1 while SBU fell to 4-3.
With Kacamakis and Prerad both fighting their way through injuries, SBU's Lady 'Cats had an even bigger problem. Scheduled to play four meets in two days, the Lady 'Cats found themselves in dire straights when it was announced that two of their junior starters, Iveta Wolfgramm, the team's top singles player, and number three doubles player Lauren Hodson, would not be able to play due to injuries. Wolfgramm's severely sprained ankle and Hodson's healing stress fracture and strep throat forced SBU Head Coach John Bryant to call on another junior, Stephanie Janzekovich, to fill their spots.
Teamed with sophomore Trish Moceo, Janzekovich helped the Lady 'Cats to a doubles match sweep and a quick 5-0 blanking of Arkansas Tech. Janzekovich and Moceo defeated their Arkansas opponents 9-7 in number three doubles with freshman Johanna Olsson and junior Chelsey Janzen winning their number one doubles match 8-3. Junior Melanie Ferris and freshman Jolee Cook took the number two doubles bout 8-2.
In singles, only two matches were completed as Janzen (6-0, 6-0) and Olsson (6-2, 6-2) both swept their opponents in straight sets.
In their second match of the day, the Lady 'Cats took on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
In singles, SBU's Janzen, Olsson and Moceo captured their number two, three and four matches. Janzen (6-4, 7-6) and Olsson (6-1, 6-3) both won in straight sets while Moceo needed two sets and a super-tiebreaker (6-7, 6-4, and 10-3) to win her match.
In the number one, five and six matches, however, the Lady 'Cats came up short. In the number one match, Cook captured the first set 6-1 before falling 4-6 in the second and 10-3 in a super-tiebreaker. Farris (2-6, 1-6) and Janzekovich (1-6, 0-6) both fell in straight sets.
