Southwest Baptist University held a choir concert in Pike Auditorium for the Concert Choir March 13. The choir filed onto the risers and took their positions according to pitch levels, as led by director Michael Mays, instructor of voice. Freshman Jon Davis manned the piano, and the show was underway without a hitch.
Bronn Journey and his wife, Katherine are a wonderfully talented couple from the Pacific Northwest whose lives revolve around music, and the latest revolution has brought them to Bolivar. They came with 2 harps, a piano and a warm sense of humor. The show itself was great, but the best part was the atmosphere.
The spring semester opera theatre class performed the comic opera, "The Elixir of Love" written by Gaetano Donizetti on March 9 in Pike Auditorium. Instructor of Voice Michael Mays directed and conducted the opera. Seniors Jonathon Antle and Andrew Wessley and freshmen Traci Jackson, Adam Keller and Briana Eaton performed leading roles, while senior Shannon Heidtbrink, junior Stephen Gonzalez, sophomores Joel Schilb and Jessica Griffin and freshmen Atley Black, Randy Davenport, Lydia Essman, Greg Love and Ashley Walker supported.
