Two Southwest Baptist commercial art majors received "Awards of Excellence" for their graphic designs in the American Corporate Identity (ACI) contest, an annual competition designed to recognize excellence in students and excellence in instruction for college-level visual art and graphic design teachers.
In the undergraduate student category, senior Emily Huser received an ACI 23 award for the "One-Acts" poster she designed for the SBU Theatre Department.
Senior Cassandra Waterman, competing in the same category, received two ACI 23 awards for the large-scale promotions she developed for the SBU Theatre productions of "God's Man in Texas" and "Triangle Factory Fire Project."
John Gruber, acting chairman of SBU's Department of Art, was the instructor for both students and their award-winning works.
Dr. Elissa Sartwell, assistant professor of theater, served as the client for two of the three posters.
Huser's and Waterman's works will be included in American Corporate Identity 2008, a companion book that will showcase all ACI 23 award winners.
