Chamber Singers to perform 'Off the Wall'

The next performance of the Southwest Baptist Chamber Singers will be an "off the wall" concert, literally. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, the group will perform "Off the Wall: The Music of the Spheres" on the racquetball courts of SBU's Meyer Wellness and Sports Center.

The Southwest Baptist University Chamber Orchestra performed "A Sspring Concert" April 3 in Meyer Recital Hall. The Chamber Orchestra, conducted by director of instrumental studies, Dr. Brian Hopwood, performed an assortment of different music to fit any listener's palate.

Symphonic Winds wind the winded

The Southwest Baptist University Symphonic Winds, directed by Director of Instrumental Studies Dr. Brian K. Hopwood, preformed "Songs and Dances" April 10 in Pike Auditorium. "Songs and Dances" is a music compilation of pieces written from 1814 all the way to 1996.

Scottish band makes summer sound

Summer is coming, and every year I cannot seem to find good "summer music." I need something that lifts me up, something that compliments the warm sun, and my seasonal cravings for slurpees. The cool thing is, I have found the band: it is fun, it is rock and roll and it is foreign.

Faculty art exhibit on display

The Driskill Gallery in Jester Learning and Performance Center is currently featuring artwork by four Southwest Baptist instructors. Works by John Gruber, acting chair of SBU's department of art; Morgan Gallatin, instructor of art; Dave Bennett, director of the Stanton Institute of Evangelism and associate professor of evangelism; and Driskill Gallery Director Dianna Callahan are on display now through April 20.
