At 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, the group will perform "Off the Wall: The Music of the Spheres" on the racquetball courts of SBU's Meyer Wellness and Sports Center.
During the concert, the Chamber Singers, a selectively auditioned 11-member group, will present a repertoire rarely heard in public performance today, ranging from the 10th to the 16th centuries.
"We are particularly pleased to present this program in the unique setting of the Meyer Wellness Center," said Dr. James Tarrant, associate professor of music and director of SBU's choral studies. "Nowhere else in southwest Missouri have we been able to find an acoustical marvel such as this venue. Given that this music was originally composed for such arenas, it is simply amazing what the audience will experience."
Although admission is free, reservations are required. For more information and reservations, call the SBU Music Office at 326-1644 the office hours are from 8 am to 5 pm.
