The Woody-Gott Hall and Southwest Baptist University tradition of Singled Out came to campus Tuesday April 3. This year's event was held in Goodson Student Union. The master of ceremonies were Allison Langford, University Success Center advisor, and Bob Klostermeyer, professor of political science.
The first 15 people to volunteer and make their way to the stage were the players. Students were allowed to continue to participate until they won a date.
The game had 10 contestants, 5 girls and 5 guys. Each contestant was led out of a doorway, blindfolded, taken in front of the players, then led to a seat where a partition blocked their view of the game's players. They then chose a series of questions that eliminated the number of players from 15 to about five.
The contestants were given a golden ticket with which they could save any player who was eliminated during the initial cuts.
These cuts were based on hair color, height and age preferences.
After the majority of players had been eliminated, the remaining players were given paddles with an "A" side and a "B" side. They were then asked questions about the contestants. With each correct answer they moved forward until a player reached the finish line, winning themselves the date.
The first contestant received a three-way tie at which time the players were asked to guess the contestants favorite color as a tie breaker, and the one with the correct answer won the date.
The first contestant was junior Lauren Frazier, won by freshman Will Ramirez. They received a date to Kathy's Pasta, the Bolivar Cinema and Sherri's Shaved Ice.
The next contestant was senior Deon Davis, won by senior Christina Swartz. They received a $25 gift certificate to the Olive garden and a certificate to Park Lanes.
The third contestant was junior Anna Goolsby, won by Sophomore Brett Stump. They received a date to Chick-fil-A and the Moxie Cinema on the Springfield Square.
The fourth contestant was freshman Thomas Norton, won by junior Amy Schraeder, receiving a date to El Rodeo, Bolivar Cinema and Sonic.
The fifth contestant was junior Jessica Gibler, won by sophomore Jarred Kathcart. They received a date to the Olive Garden and Park Lanes.
