Golf 'Cats garner top-10 ranking

Individually, the 'Cats were again led by Sellin who shot a team-best 73, giving him a 149 two-day total and a fourth place finish in the individual player standings. Washburn's Matt Ewald (142) finished with the meet's top score.
Following Sellin in the 'Cats five-man team scoring was Brandenburgh (159), Nipper (164), Smith (171) and Adam Lotz (172). Other players competing for SBU were Hefley (159), Jared Lotz (168) and freshman Chad McCoy (169).
Going into their last two meets, the 'Cats learned that they been regionally-ranked. In the latest NCAA Division II Regional Men's Golf Poll, released March 30, SBU was ranked ninth in the Central Region, one of 10 Division II regions nationwide. The 'Cats were one of eight MIAA teams that made the Central Region's top 10. Washburn, the MIAA's current point standings leader, was ranked first in the region. Other MIAA teams making the cut were Central Missouri (2nd), Missouri Western (3rd), Missouri Southern (4th), Truman (6th), Fort Hays (7th) and Pittsburg (10th).
Up next for SBU is the Concordia-St. Paul Spring Invitational. The two-day meet will be played Monday and Tuesday, April 16-17 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The 'Cats next conference competition will be April 23-24 at the annual MIAA Tournament in Hollister.
