Tennis 'Cats to host unbeaten Washburn

Returning to Bolivar for an April 7 MIAA meet with Emporia State, the 'Cats captured two of three matches with El Alabi / Prerad (8-6) and Mollar / Kacamakis (8-2) getting wins.
In singles, SBU swept all four matches played with Kacamakis (6-1, 6-1), El Alabi (6-1, 6-0), Mollar (6-4, 6-0) and Prerad (6-1, 6-3) all winning in straight sets, giving the 'Cats a 6-1 win.
Following their Friday meet with Washburn, the 'Cats will close out their regular season schedule with two away meets.
SBU will travel to Springfield for a 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 meet with nationally-ranked Northwood University of Michigan (19th) before taking on MIAA rival Truman State on Friday, April 20 in St. Joseph.
With rain postponing their meets with St. Cloud State and Central Oklahoma, the Lady 'Cats finally caught a break in the weather when they hosted MIAA rival Emporia State in an April 7 MIAA meet.
Playing their first meet in 10 days, the Lady 'Cats captured one of their three doubles matches, but struggled in singles in a 6-1 defeat. Juniors Iveta Wolfgramm and Lauren Hodson picked up an 8-5 doubles win, but freshman Johanna Olsson and junior Chelsey Janzen, playing in the number one doubles flight, lost 3-8 to nationally-ranked Lacey Luina and Natalie Villaflor. Freshman Jolee Cook and junior Melanie Farris fell 4-8 in their match.
In singles, Emporia (10-2 and 5-1) swept SBU (10-7 and 2-3) in four matches.
Following their Friday meet with Washburn, SBU will travel to Springfield for a 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 meet with nationally-ranked Drury (30th). The Lady 'Cats will then play their final regular season meet Friday, April 20 in St. Joseph against MIAA rival Truman State.
