An emphasis on students serving other students is spreading around the Southwest Baptist University campus as evident in the newly organized Students Serving Other Students (SSOS).
According to SSOS founder sophomore David Kellogg, SSOS is dedicated to serving the student body.
"[The organization] will offer services to SBU students ranging from assistance moving in, to jumpstarting a car, to whatever else it may develop into," said Kellogg. "However, the original inspiration for the program as well as the primary focus by most people that now know about it is the security aspect."
SSOS will offer escorts to walk female students around campus after dark. The organization will also help incoming freshman or transfer students get oriented to the SBU environment.
To be members of SSOS, students must have attended SBU for at least one year, have a 2.5 GPA, submit an application and await approval.
The group is still undergoing quite a bit of organization, but should underway by the beginning of next semester.
