Sophomore Natasha N. Bell, a student at Southwest Baptist's Mountain View campus, was killed Saturday, April 14 in a three-vehicle auto accident. The accident, which happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, took place on U.S. Highway 60, about three miles east of Birch Tree.
Involved in the accident were three vehicles, a 2000 Western Star driven by 58-year-old Eldred Fisk of Demossville, Ky.; a 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by 65-year-old John J. Jackson of Gainesville; and Bell's 1997 Chevrolet.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Bell, a Winona resident, was driving home from work in Mountain View. During the drive, her vehicle crossed the highway's center line and hit the left side of Fisk's vehicle, which caused Bell's vehicle to spin out of control and hit Jackson's truck in eastbound lane. Shannon County Coroner Tim Denton said Bell died at the accident scene.
Funeral services for Bell have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, April 20 at the Faith Baptist Church in Summersville.
Karen Holloway, Bell's mother, and Lisa Armstrong, her aunt, are both SBU graduates.
