Jenny Clary, a freshman from 4th west, sang and performed her own original song. Freshman Brittney Gibson, wrote and read her own poem about Beasley.
Amanda Goulas spoke afterwards about "The Invisible Children." These children from Uganda are fleeing the Lord's Resistance Army at night, in order to avoid torture, sexual violence and forceful military service. She encouraged the audience to do all that they could to help these innocent children and lives.
After this speech, the top five Beasley Sweetheart contestants were announced: Spain, Hinerman, McCampbell, Breaux and Schick. A question and answer time followed the announcement of the top-five women.
After the question and answer time, there was a five minute intermission.
Then, the moment everyone was waiting for occurred: the top three contestants were chosen. Schick received third place. McCampbell received second place. The first place winner of the Beasley pageant was Breaux.
"I just tried really hard, and it's a really fun thing to do," said McCampbell
Breaux was excited about her success, "It's kind of neat. It's exciting to get something like this. I've taken two years off of school, and it's great coming back and having fun like this."
