The "Beasley Sweetheart Pageant", a tradition since 2003, has entertained students and given the ladies of Beasley Hall a chance to shine. Each floor nominates four women, two from each wing; to compete for the honor of Beasley Queen.
The night started off with a warm-hearted welcome given by Landee Nevills, resident director of Beasley Hall. Then, the moment all were waiting for: the Beasley babes were escorted across the stage, adorned in beautiful dresses.
The next event was the talent show, the best part of the evening. Before the contestant performed her talent, a video interview was played.
Kristen Colon, a freshman from Beasley 1st east, tap danced with her sister, Katelyn. Ashely Thomas, a sophomore from 1st east, lip-synched the song "You're the One that I Want" from the popular musical Grease.
Jes Fowler, a freshman from 1st floor west, read a poetry piece about her love for God. Lauren Holiday, a freshman from 1st floor west, followed, singing "Think of Me", a song from the popular musical Phantom of the Opera. Exploding applause followed.
Lisa Gardiner, a junior from 2nd east, read the poem "Anabelle Lee" by renowned poet, Edgar Allen Poe. Barb Goisk, junior from 2nd east, sang "Think of Me" as a duet with Emily Jennings.
Audra Spain, a senior from 2nd west, dressed in cowgirl garb, sang the entertaining piece "I Once Had a Chicken".
Brook Hinerman, junior from 3rd east, performed an improv interpretive dance to random music clips from a CD compiled by someone else. Liz Robinson, a junior from 3rd east, covered Jaci Velasquez's "Imagine Me Without You".
Mallory Malloy from 3rd west performed a humorous interpretive dancing to the Rascal Flatt's song, "God Bless the Broken Road." Her interview before her performance mentioned how much her friends in Beasely had helped her cope with the loss of her father. Sophomore Marita McCampbell from 3rd west salsa danced with Jason Willey to "Tropical Fantasia".
Carly Breaux, a junior from 4th east, danced with SBU grad Chaz Bell to "Swing in the Mood." Kristy Schick, a freshman from 4th east and a fan of Beasley's big closets (according to her interview), sang the song "Stormy Weather" in a 40's style accompanied by senior Andy Dale on the piano.
