Students have questions about re-structure

In a 190-11 election last week, the Southwest Baptist student body voted to re-structure the Student Government Association; however, several students are uneducated on what this means.
"No one knows what the re-structure is all about," said junior John Moore. "I'd like to know more about what it is going to be."
Moore's statement is echoed in the statements of others.
"I don't know exactly what all they're going to do, but I do know they need a change," said sophomore Trish Hammerschmidt. "There's not much publicity … People really don't know what's going on."
The issue of the lack of publicity re-occurred in the opinions of several students.
"The thing that disturbs me about SGA in general is the lack of publicity," said junior Daniel Wilson. "If this restructuring can better solve that, then I'm all for it."
According to an anonymous student, nobody knows what is going on because SGA doesn't care.
"SGA complains about things not getting done at the end of the semester, but it's because they've all given up," said the student.
Some students find hope in the idea of a re-structuring of the student government.
Junior Shawn Daugherty is looking forward to the re-structure because it will bring change.
"I think the re-structuring of SGA will help students find their voice," said Daugherty.
This sentiment is what current Student Body President senior Laura Towner is hoping to achieve with the re-structure.
"If done correctly, the re-structure will allow SGA to reach it's full potential," said Towner.
According to Towner, the potential of SGA is to serve the student body by attending to specific needs.
SGA's time will no longer be split between running activities and trying to resolve issues as it is currently doing.
"Students with issues or ideas will feel they have a place to go and express those issues and ideas without having to dodge between the hustle and bustle of activities," said Towner.
SGA's goal is to make things more organized so that time will be spent more efficiently and the roles of SGA will be more clearly defined.
