SGA releases allocation budget information

The SBU Fencing Club requested and received $2,000, 1.61 percent.
According to the budget proposal, all of the money allocated to the fencing team will be used to purchase new equipment, which the club has been lacking for some time. The equipment includes sabers, epees, masks, chest protectors, maintenance parts and equipment storage.
Intramural Sports requested and received $1,000.
According to Director of Student Activities Zach Waters, the money will be used for new equipment and maintenance of existing equipment. If any money remains, Waters would like to see that money go toward the improvement of existing open-play facilities on campus.
Mozarkian, the SBU yearbook, received $4,500, 3.62 percent, for the 2007-2008 school year. This money is spent on printing costs, equipment and equipment maintenance, and it covers the cost of the photographers that come in to take the yearbook pictures.
The Omnibus requested and received $25,000.20, 20.13 percent of the Student Activity Fee budget.
The bulk of The Omnibus' budget goes toward printing costs. The Omnibus spends over $15,000 an academic year for printing. The cost is $625 an issue. Other expenditures include membership and participation costs in the Missouri College Media Association. The approximate cost is $1,000. Over $2,500 is will be used for technology repair and upgrades. In addition to the budget allocation, The Omnibus is required to bring in $8,000 in advertising revenue to supplement the production costs.
Raise Your Voice, a new campus organization geared toward service, requested $7,000 and received $2,250, 1.81 percent.
According to the budget proposal, Raise Your Voice will use a portion of that budget for publicity. The overall plan for the budget was not available at time of print.
SIFE requested $6,500 and received $1,700, 1.37 percent. SIFE's budget will go toward such projects as SIFEnvest, Risky Business x2 and Enterprise City. The money will also go toward regional and national competitions.
