Over 150 Southwest Baptist Unversity students gathered on the Burnidge Memorial Forum April 30 to compete against SBU's athletes in the University's first Pros vs. Joes.
Sponsored by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, the competition modeled the popular television show in which three average American citizens compete against five American athletes in events related to the sport in which that athlete is involved.
Scattered on the Forum, SBU athletic teams ran nine stations. The Joes had the opportunity to compete against Pros by meeting or beating the standards set up by athletes.
"The softball team was having a home run contest and Joes were trying to hit further than the Pros," said Nate Davis, assistant director of student athletics. "We also had a couple of inflatables for everyone to have a good time on."
Other activites at the event were a bungy run and a jousting competition, which determined the champions.
"Our goal was to get the non-athlete students together with student athletes," said Davis. "I think we were somewhat successful."
