It has been a few years since Marvel has given fans the pleasure of viewing their favorite spandex-wearing, web-throwing science geek on the big screen, and, needless to say, it was about time.
When I first heard that the third movie would involve the Hob Goblin, Sandman and Venom, three of Spidey's biggest enemies, I was unsure of how it would be pulled off, based on the time limitations of a movie. And considering how Mary Jane and Peter's love life ended in the second movie I was curious to see where they would go from there. But somehow, the writers of Spiderman 3 were able to pull it off.
Compared to the other two movies, the third movie was more dialogue and story-based, making the action secondary to the story. In fact, the story even had morals to teach about forgiveness, understanding and fighting temptations. Compare that to the stories in the first two: save the girl and get the bad guys.
Spiderman 3 brought comic book movies to a whole new level; they showed how a good story is more important than a cool fight scene or action shot.
They showed how an action fantasy movie could also teach viewers a good moral to live by. But do not worry, action fans, the action and computer graphics made many of the recent comic book films seem silly.
Although the story line took priority in the movie, the action came in a close second. It was not all dialogue and plot, it had plenty of great fighting and web swinging to feed the craving of any guy with no sense of higher thinking other than "bang, pow, you're dead."
Spiderman 3 is a great movie and well worth the money for any Spiderman enthusiast.
If someone has not seen the first two, then I recommend watching them this weekend, then going to the theatre just so they can see this amazing movie.
