Members of the Southwest Baptist University Staff Council were scattered across campus Friday, May 4 to beautify the University in anticipation of the May 19 graduation.
Organized by Marinell Erven, administrative assistant to the dean of the College of Business and Computer Science, staff members spent the day cleaning the campus and having fellowship with other staff members. Teams of five were sent out to complete tasks the SBU Grounds Crew would have been hard pressed to finish before graduation.
Among the projects completed by the 22 member crew were cleaning leaves under Taylor National Free Enterprise Center and other projects at Jester Learning and Performance Center, Wheeler Science Center, Meyer Wellness and Sports Center, Casebolt Music Center and parts of the old campus.
David Bolton, director of Administrative Computing, said the campus was in good condition, and the biggest improvement made was the cleaning of the entrance to Taylor.
Staff members also swept stairs that retained salt and sand that was laid down during the ice storm.
Bolton seemed to be pleased with the project, and was happy to see other parts of campus. The Staff Council would like to do this type of project every year.
