Alyssa, Rebecca and Lauren Barlow bring a pop rock edge and harmonious lyrics to their third release.
BarlowGirl has been nominated for the Dove Awards nine times and has had four number one songs on their new CD.
The band states on their website, "We believe God is calling everyone to live a life that is fully surrendered to Him so that He can do His work in us and begin to show us His true purpose for our lives. We're definitely not saying 'we've mastered this concept and now it's your turn,' but instead that this is a daily process and a journey that all of us will be on forever."
Their goal as a band is to encourage and help people with spiritual issues. Not only do these songs have great beats, but the lyrics include astounding statements.
All the new songs on the CD are about different situations but unite in the same meaning. These songs incorporate reality and truth.
Some songs help activate and bring confidence, while others help listeners cope with tough situations.
Some thought provoking lyrics include, "I'm sorry I cared about my name more than Yours. I'm so sorry, how could I hide You anymore? But if I keep quiet, they'll never see I'm different."
These lyrics are found in the song "Keep Quiet."
The song "I Believe in Love" begins with, "How long will my prayers seem unanswered? Is there still faith in me to reach the end? I'm feeling doubt, I'm losing faith. But giving up would cost me everything."
For the guy listeners out there, do not worry, there is even a song called "The Guy Song" that include the lyrics, "Where would we be today if no man ever had strength to believe? If no man had a vision further than their eyes could ever see. They are the ones who paved the way. To show you how you have been made for more."
Many of us can relate to these lyrics at some time or another in our lives.
Society today rejects the name of Jesus. They expect that it should be kept in church only and not be lived out in our lives. Even though it is hard to go through persecution, it is important to be bold and obey God. If we never make a move, how are people going to hear about Jesus and make a difference? BarlowGirl's new CD deals with these issues.
Previous BarlowGirl CD's include "BarlowGirl" (2005) and "Another Journal Entry" (2006).
BarlowGirl is currently on the 2007 Portable Sounds Tour with Toby Mac and Thousand Foot Krutch.
"How Can We Be Silent" was produced by Fervent Records. It is available at retailers nationwide.
