The first week of classes came with rain and for the Meyer Wellness and Sports Center, leaky ceilings and a broken air conditioning system.
Students with classes in the Meyer Wellness and Sports Center and those trying to fit in their daily workout routine may have noticed the uncomfortable temperatures and the rain invading the back west hallway and the weight room last week.
The 15.5 million dollar facility is three years old this semester, but faces these problems.
The Physical Plant said they were continuing to work with Killian Construction, the developers of the building, on fixing the leaky roof of the building.
The air conditioning system breaking was not connected to the leaky ceiling but an entirely separate problem. A broken water supply pump was the culprit of the air conditioning going out, leaving those working out sweltering. Robby Bryant, Southwest Baptist University's AC technician, worked all night Tuesday with Gold Mechanical to fix the air conditioning problem.
