Security has new uniforms to help students better identify those they may need help from. Security guards will be wearing a black polo, khaki cargo pants and identification badges that allow them to be more identifiable.
"We thought that was a little bit of a nice switch," said Grabowski.
Additionally, Safety and Security has created a committee consisting of faculty, staff and student representatives that will discuss security matters on campus and also help the Safety and Security Department better inform the campus of pending security changes and issues.
"We can share information but also get advice in those meetings," said Grabowski.
A final change includes the lock down of the Wheeler Science Center. Students with valid ID's will still be able to enter the building to use the computer labs.
"Wheeler is being locked down earlier in the evenings," said Clawson. "But students still have access to it."
Overall, Grabowski is confident in the direction and progress SBU is making towards better serving students security needs.
