Graduate school is just around the corner for some students, and before graduate school comes the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
Psi Chi and the Sociology Criminal Justice Society want to help refresh skills and prepare juniors and seniors for the exam through a series of workshops.
University professors will be speaking on their own specialization areas.
The first session will consist of a practice test from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 6 in Gott Educational Center room 230 or the Taylor National Free Enterprise Center computer lab. An overview of the GRE will be given at 10 a.m. Sept. 7.
This session, along with the other three, will be held in Gott Educational Center room 250.
Saturday's workshop is a math review from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Allison Langford, instructor of University Success Center.
At 10 a.m. Sept. 14, Dr. Joshua Compton, department chair of Communication Arts, will lead a session devoted to vocabulary.
Todd Sukany, instructor of English, and Dr. Shelley Kilpatrick, assistant professor of Psychology will hold the final workshop on writing good essays and statistics, respectively, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15.
These GRE prep workshops are open to all Southwest Baptist University students within any major.
Registration is $7, which includes all materials and lunch for the two Saturday sessions. Sign up in the Behavioral Sciences office by Sept. 5.
