Lucky for you, Gallery editor Inga Locke and I tested the waters at Jasmine's buffet, and the water is fine.
We were not disappointed by the all-you-can-eat $6.99 buffet of Chinese food we found when we entered the spacious open restaurant.
What the place lacks in ambiance it makes up for in the three separate buffet lines: salad, meat and more meat with sauces and soup.
We found the staple of Ozark Chinese restaurants, cashew chicken but also a variety of different chicken recipes.
If you like chicken, this is the place to be. I had no idea there were so many different Asian recipes for chicken. There was an entire line of meat devoted to chicken dishes. Jasmine's was able to get away with the lack of variety, however, because the chicken was just that good.
Between the noodles and rice, I would go with the noodles. The rice seemed a bit under cooked and they were the best noodles I have had in a long time. The beauty of the all-you-can-eat concept, however, is that you can get both, so why choose?
One major downside to the experience was the salad bar. The lettuce did not look very fresh and the variety of toppings was pitiful.
But who needs salad when all that chicken is sitting right there?
While Jasmine's has yet to issue a take-out menu, there are to-go boxes on the buffet that you can fill for $3.99 per lb.
With Jasmine's, China Pearl, the Korean House and Master Wong's (or is it Wang's?), you can definitely appease that late night hunger for some Asian cuisine.
