Casting Crowns released their third studio project "The Altar and the Door" Aug 28. Fans are expecting this new album to be a hit since the band's past CDs have been a success. The band still carries the contemporary rock, but the lyrics spin a whole new way.
Casting Crowns has won numerous awards since their first CD from winning Artist of the Year to albums going platinum.
The members of this talented band do not let the fame get to their heads.
One might wonder what the title of the album means. Lead singer Mark Hall explains on the band's website.
"When we're at the altar, everything makes sense; we know what we're supposed to do. We know how we're supposed to live. Everything's black and white. But somewhere between the altar and the door, when we leave and go out into our lives, (for me, at least) it is as though something leaks out, and everything gets gray. It is at that point that I totally dork out and start stumping my toes on life. So the Christian life is the journey between the altar and door - as we allow the truths we have in our heads to work their way into our hands, feet and into our lives."
When looking for some great songs to listen to, many of us want songs that will engage us and help us grow.
Each Casting Crowns CD does that very thing. Their new CD is elite by the indication of the significance of the lyrics. Many of us have heard the song "East to West" from their new album on Christian radio stations. The chorus includes, "Jesus can You show me just how far the east is from the west, cause I can't bear to see the man I've been come rising up in me again. In the arms of Your mercy I find rest, cause You know just how far the east is from the west; from one scarred hand to the other."
In the song "Prayer for a Friend," it says, "Cause there's a way that seems so right to him, but You know where that leads. He's becoming a puppet of the world, too blind to see the strings. Lord, I lift my friend up to You, my friend up to You."
This is an issue that many encounter and can relate to.
An empowering song that will stop you in your tracks is "The Altar and the Door." This song goes into depth with lyrics that include, "Careless, I am reckless, I'm a wrong-way-travelin'-slowly-unraveling shell of a man. Burnt out, I'm so numb now that the fire's just an ember way down in the corner of my cold, cold heart. Lord, this time I'll make it right, here at the altar I lay my life. Your kingdom come but my will was done, my heart is broken as I..."
Many Scriptures encouraged this set of lyrics, but one that ties everything in is Romans 7:15-20.
The Altar and the Door Tour start Sept 27, with opening acts that include Leeland and John Waller.
