Announcement of mission opportunities from the Missions and Ministries Office will be given Wednesday, Sept. 12 during Chapel.
There will be nine opportunities to serve in the Spring and Summer semesters of 2008.
In Chapel on Sept. 17 and 19, there will be a missions emphasis as Southwest Baptist University has done in previous years.
On Sept. 17, Dub Pierce will be leading worship in Chapel, and those who have been on previous mission trips will give testimonies.
Dr. John Marshall, pastor at Second Baptist Church of Springfield, will speak on Sept. 19 and will give a mission challenge to the students in attendance.
Another mission opportunity during the week is the annual Missions Fest on Sept. 18 at 6pm.
Booths featuring the opportunities will be set up in Mabee Chapel.
These booths will also feature ethnic food and clothing of countries representing the mission opportunities. The booths give students an idea of what to expect on each trip.
Starting at 7 p.m. that evening there will be a free concert featuring Dub Pierce with Monk and Neagle following at 8 p.m.
Students who want to sign up for interviews for the various trips may do so after Chapel on Sept. 17.
More opportunities to sign up will be available during Missions Fest as well as before and after Sept. 19.
Any questions about Missions Week can be directed to the University Missions and Ministry Office located in the Goodson Student Union.
