Last semester Monk and Neagle were a hit with students at SBU. Monk and Neagle will return to SBU Tuesday, Sept. 18 to bring a bang to Missions Week. The Missions Festival starts at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. Paul "Dub" Pierce will be playing,
Trent Monk and Michael Neagle started their twelve-year friendship in Amarillo, Texas. They will be playing songs from their new CD, "The Twenty-First Time."
Ed Cash, who has worked with Chris Tomlin and Bethany Dillon, has been working with them to produced their new CD.
This is the band's sophomore album and first time working with Reunion Records, which will be released Sept 18. That is an advantage for SBU students. If you like their music at the concert, you will be able to buy their CD that night.
They bring a touch of an acoustic-pop beat to the music. They do worship and praise God in their music, but they also come from a storyteller's point of view. Relationships in all aspects have been the center of attention.
The new CD has an awesome variation of how the songs are set up. They bring a focus on serving Jesus by serving His Children in need. The song "The Twenty-First Time" reactivates that focus.
Their lyrics include, "He may be a drifter who's grown old and gray. But what if it's Jesus and I walk away? I say I'm the body and drink of the wine, but I pretend not to see Him for the twenty-first time."
One of the worship songs that has become an anthem for them is "Hallelujah Jesus." The lyrics include, "Author of my life, friend of sinful man, holy mighty God, ever great I AM. Wonderful, powerful, Jesus is your name. Hallelujah, Jesus."
This song is the first song recorded that they did not write.
Monk and Neagle are currently on tour with Shane and Shane and Bebo Norman. The All That is Within Me Tour with Mercy Me and Aaron Shust Sept 27.
