Nine mission opportunities available to students

Chapel on Monday featured the Southwest Baptist University Missions and Ministries staff along with leaders of upcoming mission trips. They announced the nine mission opportunities for spring and summer 2008.
During spring break, teams will be going to El Salvador, Brazil and Tucson, Ariz. Kurt Caddy, director of University Ministries, will be leading the team to El Salvador March 14 through March 23. The cost is $2,175.
This team will be partnering with Living Water International by digging two wells during the trip.
Living Water International "exists to demonstrate the love of God by providing desperately needed clean water and medical attention, along with the living water of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which alone satisfies the deepest thirst."
This team will also be interacting with children and families.
The second trip during spring break is to Tucson, Ariz., leaving March 15 and returning March 22. This team will be led by junior Brett Blair and the cost is $1,050.
The team will be partnering with Parachute Project, which sends out college students around southern Arizona and helps them target a specific area.
There will be time to talk to people daily as well as opportunities to help plant churches.
Christy Moore, who is part of the Journeyman program through the International Mission Board, will be leading the trip to Brazil March 14-23.
This team will be working with Alpha Omega Children's Home in Garca City, Brazil.
The team will play with children, help with crafts and do drama.
There are six more mission trip opportunities in the summer.
These include a trip to Turkey with Kelly Rehm, assistant director of University Missions, leading.
This trip will take place from the end of May to early June for ten days. The cost is $2800.
The team will distribute literature and films among the Kurdish people.
Sean Smith, vice president of Extend Global, will be leading a trip to Egypt that leaves May 18 and returns June 1. The cost is $2590.
