Keep this question in mind as I relay to you the following story: According to the "Houston Chronicle," Allen Michael Beckett, 53, a former military person and a current deacon at his church, faces a felony charge of assault and battery as a result of a fight with 32-year-old Brian Thomas who was wearing a University of Texas shirt.

McElhaney orchestrates sweep in his head coaching debut

Corey McElhaney could not have asked for much more in his first meet as the head cross country coach at Southwest Baptist University. "It was fun," said McElhaney. "I was really impressed with the support I had from parents, family and athletes. We had around 50 people there cheering us on, students included, and we really appreciate that.

Soccer team continues tough schedule

For the second consecutive game, the Lady Bearcats played well but found themselves on the losing end 1-0. Carmen Davis, of #19 ranked Central Oklahoma, scored the only goal at the 49:15 mark. Coach Ben Wade offered his comments after the match. "It was a very even match going back and forth.

Keith Allen nearly had his first win as head coach of the Southwest Baptist University football team. But an 18-point explosion by NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State in the fourth quarter sent the Bearcats to a 38-17 defeat and a 0-2 start. Timmy Holloman led the SEMO offense by rushing for 203 yards and three touchdowns with all three scores coming in the second half.

SBU falls in first conference match of the year

In a three game decision, the Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats fell to Pittsburg State University last Wednesday night. The Gorillas, who are ranked 18th in the nation, hit a three game average of .366. SBU in comparison hit a .081 for the evening.
