For the second consecutive game, the Lady Bearcats played well but found themselves on the losing end 1-0.
Carmen Davis, of #19 ranked Central Oklahoma, scored the only goal at the 49:15 mark.
Coach Ben Wade offered his comments after the match.
"It was a very even match going back and forth. I thought our girls played with a lot of grit and determination. We are playing nationally ranked opponents during pre-season for a reason. We expose our weaknesses when we play the best teams, and as long as the girls continue to improve, we still have an excellent post-season year ahead of us."
SBU falls to 1-3 on the season. They play Midwestern today at Edmond.
The first 88 minutes of Saturday afternoon's game saw the Lady Bearcat's poised to defeat Midwestern State University (Texas). Southwest Baptist took the lead when Dominie Emmanuel beat the Midwestern keeper with a chip shot in the 66th minute. The Lady 'Cats kept the pressure on throughout the game with shots from many players including Amber Vasquez and Caitlin Tull. In the 88th minute the Southwest Baptist defense appeared to have successfully stopped the Midwestern attack when the ball went off the foot of a Midwestern and over the end line. Midwestern, however, was awarded a corner kick and Kari Bristow put the ball on the head of Cassidy Guice who found the back of the net.
In extra time there was no scoring and the game ended in a bitter 1-1 draw. Dominie Emmanuel's goal in the 66th minute broke a 408:44 minute scoreless streak by Midwestern goalie Heather Primavera. The Lady Bearcats fell to 1-3-1 on the season.
