Effective immediately, Cody's Convenience Stores will offer all Southwest Baptist University students and faculty a three cent per gallon discount on gasoline. The discounts to students began when Missouri State University contacted the owner of Cody's looking for a convenience store to partner with in order to get discounts for their students.
Out of the preliminary and unofficial current enrollment of 1,560 undergraduate students enrolled at the Bolivar campus, 710 freshmen, sophomores and juniors responded to the Student Government Association survey during Chapel Sept. 10. An additional 74 seniors responded, but as of press time their results have not been tabulated and so are not included.

Southwest Baptist University will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with several activities starting Sept. 26. Organized by the Multicultural Student Services Program, the month of activities seeks to encourage students to learn about other cultures. Southwest Baptist University Student Government Association has added a campus wide Dorm Council for students to communicate with SGA and campus administration. "We felt the distribution of power was too centralized," said SGA Student Body President senior Ivry Karamitros.
Everything in society seems to be advancing down a technological route. Even the way Student Government Association holds elections is progressing. Remember seeing a self check-out for the first time and thinking it seemed like a crazy idea? What about the new video vendors that sit outside some supermarkets and McDonald's? They allow choosing a movie through the vending machine just like candy and pay using a debit or credit card.
