On Thursday Sept. 20, Meyer Recital Hall was filled with people waiting to hear the sounds of the performance of Dr. Terri Knupps, professor of Music, on the euphonium. With the assistance of Dr. Melinda Smashey, professor of Music, on the piano, Knupps immediately captured the attention of the audience with as she took her position on the stage.
When most people think of a poet they might imagine a person who meets in an English building to discuss the best metaphor to describe a leaky kitchen sink or ponder over the best way to write a poem about writing a poem. Poet Bradley Hataway, however, performs most of his work in crowed concert halls and outdoor arenas and has toured with music groups such as Underoath, Blindside and various other acts.
Nicolas Cage has another success with his new movie "Next." "Next" was released on DVD Tuesday, Sept. 25. "Next", written by Phillip K. Dick, writer of "Minority Report" takes science fiction to a whole new level. Maintaining a contemporary setting, "Next" manages to bring seeing into the future to audiences in a different way.
UAC's concert committee will bring Scratch Track to play at the Homecoming concert Tuesday, Oct. 2. They will be playing in Pike Auditorium at 7 p.m. along with Triptastic. The concert is free. Scratch Track includes DJ Lee from Kansas City and Jason Hamlin from Detroit.
Foo Fighters released their new album Sept. 25. The album, entitled "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace," is their sixth album and an encore to their 10-year anniversary album "In Your Honor". The music has a good sound but lacks uniqueness. The band is comprised of Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.
